«Valses»
Dances appear in keyboard composition since the earliest of times. We find them mentioned in Girolamo Diruta's «Transilvano», a famous tratise on execution published in 1593. Dances were adored in the 17th century, while the 18th century sorted them out and confined them, finally attributing first place to the Minuet which even became part of the structure of the symphonie. The 19th century adopted the waltz in place of the Minuet, transforming it from the pleasant dance that it had beenm into a bourgeois dance, and danced it until it lost its breath.
