What makes the program of this CD especially interesting is the fact that none of the works recorded here were originally written for trumpets and organ. They are arrangements for these instruments. The art of "arrangement" can be viewed as an inherently 18th-century fashion. It arose practically contemporaneously with the rise of the public concert in northern Germany and the Netherlands. The transcriptions were in great demand for "everyday" needs of musicmaking, whether for princely courts, the privacy of the home or for the exercise of liturgical rites.
