The pianotrio IL TRITTICO unites three outstanding and versatile musicians with a wealth of individual experience. Their infectious enthusiasm and willingness to explore current musical ideas is reflected in the Trio's support in commissioning new works from composers with diverse musical backgrounds. The Trio strives to break down musical and performing barriers in traditional performing practice, thus jazz and folk idioms, guest musicians and even lighting effects may be seen in future concerts and in newly commissioned works. In all its programming the musicians' central endeavour is to serve the audiences, promoting an outlet for new music and ideas with an appealing character, whether it be emotional, humourous, shocking or purely entertaining.
The name "Il Trittico" is derived from Giacomo Puccini's three single-act operas which are performed as a Trio in one evening.
