Szymanowski | Ravel: «String Quartets»
On first glance, it might seem unusual to bring together two works which were written at a distance of a quarter of a century and which belong to completely different cultural spheres: Maurice Ravel's String Quartet, his only work in this genre, and Karol Szymanowsky's String Quartet No. 2. But many parallels begin to emerge when one explores the biography, the creative œuvre, the aesthetic views and, above all, the relationship of the two men to non-European music.
