Kammerakademie Potsdam

The Kammerakademie Potsdam, a young top orchestra based in Germany's Brandenburg region, was created in 2001 by merging the Ensemble Oriol of Berlin with the Persius Ensemble from nearby Potsdam. The orchestra has wide-ranging repertoire, trom Baroque opera played on historic instruments through Classical symphonies to first performances of contemporary compositions.
Up to 2006, Sergio Azzolini was the artistic director of the Kammerakademie Potsdam, and he still maintains his connections with the orchestra. His work has since been carried on by Andrea Marcon and other experts in the field of historic performing practice. In 2006, Azzolini was replaced by Michael Sanderling as its new artistic director.
