Andrea Marcon

Andrea Marcon belongs to the world's foremost authorities and most brilliant interpreters of ancient italian music for organ and harpsichord. In 1986 he won the first prize of the international "Paul Hofhaimer" organ competition in Innsbruck and the first prize of the harpsichord competition in Bologna in 1991. His remarkable recordings were often internationally awarded (four "Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik, Diapason d'or, Fondazione CINI Venice). As a member of the jury, now he takes part at the competitions of Alkmaar, Bruges, Nuremberg, Toulouse, Tokyo. Since 1997 he has been directing the Venice Baroque Orchestra (VBO), With the VBO he performed the Premiere of the opera "Orione" by F. Cavalli and the "Vespro di Natale" by C. Monteverdi. He teaches harpsichord and organ at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis and is visiting professor at the Sweelinck-Conservatory in Amsterdam.
